Song 117

I wrote and recorded an entirely different song today, save the lyrics and vocals. I was super focused while playing guitar and layering all the parts. Thirty guitar parts later and my brain was fried. I put pen to paper and my mind went blank. Trying to snap out of it, I took a break. That didn’t help. I tried to get going again and some door-to-door siding salesman rang the doorbell and the dog went nuts. I had to tell him four times that I wasn’t interested and I would prefer that he went away. Then I remembered hearing about scams where someone knocks on your front door while their accomplice goes around back and robs you. So, for the next 15 minutes I kept checking the back yard and looking out the windows. When the dog finally shut up and I saw the guy down the block, I could finally get back to work. Nope. No words would come. So, I did the only thing I could think of… I wrote a whole new song. But, same thing happened, no words would come to me. So, instead of just making it an instrumental, I picked lines from all my previous songs this month and made a robot do my dirty work. Oddly enough, I kinda like how it turned out.

lyrics

Run run fool What does it matter if I never start This pain comforts me, until I find This facade will do just fine I see a point to it all Take all the time you want from me, I know it's just illusions Tired of feeling like I'm falling Now I feel it more and more All my life I pretended to be Work makes free I feel the lightning in my soul flicker out But I can last a while
I'm already speeding, I'll be home too soon
I am only human, I can only do so much I took my chances letting it all out Unfounded rumors penetrate the walls The babies all have rabies An analog soul in a digital world But I don't know what it means, to be a good son Can't leave it here, can't take it with you But when they all die, we die too Did we go so far that we can't see the light
