Sunflowers

from January 2014 by Matt Sams

about

This is song 28 of my 365 song challenge. I think this is my best yet!

lyrics

Water lilies on your eyes, let you see nothing
Jumping toads in your mouth, make you turn silent
Sunflowers in your ears, let you hear the sound of nothing
And I wake up from a dream

I lie awake staring at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to come
I lock myself up from the outside, to give myself some room to breathe
Sunflowers are in the bedroom, they take away the disease
And it's all just a dream

Always on the outside, they look away from what they need
Sunflowers go crashing to the ground, fall to the ground, make no sound

Feelings slowly slipping down, crawl away to your own place
Following all your own dreams, the sunflowers will meet you there
Crash through the door, everyone sees you nevermore
I hate the fact, it's just a dream
