Mine To Remember

about

Song number 21

Memories… light the corners of my mind? Neh, not when there’s rum to pull down the shades. Memories are strange. They’re almost never completely accurate, yet they’re usually cherished and vehemently defended. Nostalgia and sentimentality don’t typically enter my thoughts though. Until something slaps me in the brain and I find myself face to face with… memories. Good or bad or happy or sad, whatever they may be. They may bother me sometimes, or other times delight me. But they’re mine. I can do what I want with them…

lyrics

It's mine to remember

Maybe I see that I can believe that I'm still trying
It's caught on my tongue when I try to reveal the answer

It's mine to remember or mine to fade away
I try to deliver my best every day I'm awake

I could be dumb or maybe too young, to find out the answers
To cut through the din, I'm dying within the memories I left here

It's mine to remember or mine to dread
When I release all the pain I fed to myself

Am I locked away for good this time, are my pieces left behind

It's mine to remember or mine to forget
But I can't tell you what I have left to lose

It's mine to remember or mine to regret
But I won't surrender what I have left to prove
