Song 342

Only 24 songs to go... Winter is closing in hard now. My old friend, the wind-chill. Today has found me in an odd mood. This song is sort of a mashup of improvisational jazz, an almost industrial electronic freakout and a slow plodding juggernaut of a beat. Lyrically, I kind of went with a stream of consciousness writing. I just wrote all the lines and then went back and made them fit the music. It's not usually how I work with lyrics, but I like how it turned out. Where does this one fit? I dunno, but I'd listen to it again.

lyrics

Taste a bitter wound
Forsaken by a godly man
What is heaven, if not just?

Waving softly like an orphan
Peaking out windows
What is a smile, if not a mask?

Whisper a secret in a built-in mirror
Shattered
What are reflections, if not illusions?

Steal a glance unnoticed
Hide behind the walls
What are worries, if not premonitions?

Shining lights in sleepy eyes
Hesitate
What is the world, if not fair?

What is the world, if not fair?
