Bolt The Door

Song number 23

This is a very different song than yesterday. It reminds me of stuff I listened to on Zoltar’s Industrial Nation back in my formative years. I’m not quite sure what I’m going on about in the lyrics. They all just popped into my head. The garbled voices at the beginning and throughout the song are from a wax-cylinder recording of a Civil War era song called “Just before the battle Mother”. With a bit of digital manipulation it became appropriately creepy.

lyrics

Goats and pigs and animals tearing down your gates
Hear the monsters howl and scream
Hide your head and bolt the door

Before the battle mother, close my eyes before I bleed away
Before the battle mother, close these veins before I bleed away
Hide your head and bolt the door

Into the grinder boys, it's off to victory
We can die, side by side, it's how it's meant to be
Hide your head and bolt the door

Before the battle mother, close my eyes before I bleed away
Before the battle mother, close these veins before I bleed away
Hide your head and bolt the door

Into the firing line, our world is over
We'll be buried in the potter's field and dream
Hide your head and bolt the door
