Song 171

The hardest part for me about writing this song was resisting the urge to over do it. I had to hold myself back and let the song breathe a bit. So, it turns out to be just drums, piano, bass, vocals and a guitar solo that is actually a doubled track with one track reversed. The solo has a real dizzy quality to it. I love how it turned out...

lyrics

The ferryman takes me into open water
I've paid the fare with this tired soul

I fear my life may have some meaning after all
There are too many Tuesdays left to haunt me

I take my shelter from the heat under walnut trees
I held my gaze for too long on that rain-slicked street

I float ever upward into that cloudless sky
