Song 277

Second guess self doubt, without a cause. Any reason for anxiety will do. Loved? Hated? All in your mind? Does it matter? It's all right there in the shadows, waiting. Waiting for that restless night. Waiting for those ghosts to come a-callin. Waiting for that spark of doubt. Looking for any crack in the armor to fill you up with doubt. Inching along. Creeping in. Closing the trap. Laughing. They're laughing at you. Sticks and stones. Or so they say. In a broader light, there's nothing to worry about. Easier said than done after the lights go out and the mind wanders. I left the cage door unlocked and now the creature runs my dreams, even in waking life. Just gotta shine that light in there and scare it away. Easier said than done.

lyrics

Oh, make your peace
Oh, if only
Oh, quiet these dreams
Oh, I know this game

Hiding in the shadows
Waiting for my weakest moment
Ready to strike me down

I gave it my all
Oh, if only
I could have made it work
Oh, I know this game

Crouching in the darkness
It waits for me to fall asleep
And send needles into my dreams

I stumble over snares
I'm caught in it's stare
It's trying to tear me down

Oh, I know this game
