Lights Go Down

Song 227

Today's song is sort of a sad one to me. I'm not sure where the idea for the lyrics came from, but I think it's about being lonely. It's easy for people to slip through the cracks of our society. Sometimes, no one notices when someone drops off the face of the earth. Too sad or depressed to join society, even though they long for anything remotely resembling human contact. But, the world spins around, just like always and people pay no mind. Being lonely can be a cloak of invisibility. Smile at a stranger.

lyrics

Suffer once, stronger than today
A tear-less soft reply, wishing summer away
You roll the dice and pick which words to say
And hope that tomorrow is better than yesterday

Lights go down, cries go up
The world spins around and no one finds out
The pages fill with empty sadness
The world spins around and no one hears you shout

A bitter night, another empty day
A magic spell you lost, forgotten Saturdays
A simple smile, was all you ever needed
When the future was bright, you had better days

Lights go down, cries go up
The world spins around and no one finds out
The pages fill with empty sadness
The world spins around and no one hears you shout

Listen, I'm coming clean
Listen, I'm coming home
Listen, I'm counting down my life

The wind blows like all those hollow ghosts
The world spins around and no one sees your tears
No one knows how shattered you became
The world spins around and no on cares to hear
