Song 279

I had an odd idea this morning. What could I come up with for a song, if I only used one note? Well, this is the result. Instantly I thought of droning strings, so, I tuned my acoustic to a version of open "D" tuning and got to work. Using only one note turned out to be quite a challenge. So, it all had to be about dynamics and rhythm. I layered a lot of different rhythms here. Some Indian, some Latin, some just straight up drum machines. Added to that were a few synths, bass an electric guitar. I only broke today's rule with the guitar solo. Overall, it turned into a pretty cool song.

lyrics

Just one note to hold my reason
Just one reason to continue

Higher, and low down
Fire, and burned out

Just one breath, followed by the next
Just one spark that makes it burn

Higher, and low down
Fire, and burned out

Just one note
