about

Song number 115

The air is full of pollution. The water is contaminated. The food is sprayed with poisons. People freeze to death because they don’t have a home. People starve to death because they don’t have enough money for food. People go bankrupt paying for medical care. Prisons are overflowing. The coral reefs are dying. The oceans are acidizing. Bees are dying off. Over 10,000 species go extinct every year due to things like habitat destruction and changing climate.

Why? It basically boils down to profit motive. Why is the water dirty? It’s cheaper than keeping it clean. Why is the air polluted? Because it’s cheaper to just pump waste products into the air than try to capture or eliminate them. Why are so many people in prison in this, “the land of the free”? Because it turns huge profits.

It’s pretty apparent that the only true consideration these days is money. Pure and simple. Greed rules the world. How much do you really need? The priorities need to change if we want to even have a chance at standing a chance.

lyrics

They care more about a dollar than a honey bee
But when they all die, we die too

The world is circling the drain
But we're more worried that we can't pay the rent

They care more about a dollar than a dying man
There's profit to be had in poisoned food

The world is screaming out in pain
But we're too busy bickering over cents

They care more about a dollar than a starving child
They care more about a dollar than an ocean dying

You better take a look at what you really need
Before we're all history
