This song is an example of how my brain draws from unrelated sources and creates something from that spark. I read a news piece about the ship that was lost at sea during a hurricane. The phrase “I won’t be lost at sea forever, wait for me” popped into my head. Along with the tone of the music I made, it seemed to fit. While the “lost at sea” line isn’t literal, it served as the foundation of the rest of the thought process for writing the lyrics. It’s a song about feeling lost. It’s easy to feel that sometimes, but it can be hard to shake that. I shake that feeling by getting lost in my work. I find myself by getting lost. Strange how that works sometimes.
lyrics
I won't be lost at sea forever, wait for me, wait for me
I think I may be sinking down, pray for me, pray for me
I don't know what may be lost, too late for me, too late for me
If I fail to chase this pain, away from me, away from me
Drag me in with those hooks, drag me down with that look
I don't know if I'll believe, wait for me, wait for me
I think I lost my balance here, pray for me, pray for me
I won't choose to run away, too late for me, too late for me
I can't try to chase the rain, away from me, away from me
Wait for me, wait for me
Pray for me, pray for me
Too late for me, too late for me
Away from me, away from me
